Either way, worry less; in this article, we have compiled a procedure on how to use a pressure washer with detergent to kick off stains quickly.

Pressure washing is a great way of cleaning dirt quickly from a surface, but you must use a high-pressure hose plus some soap or detergent for the process to be successful. So the question is, how do use yo use a pressure washer with a detergent? And can you use another detergent or just dish soap? So let us dive into the article and get some answers to these questions.

Can You Use A Detergent With A Pressure Washer?

Yes- you can use a detergent with a pressure washer as long as the machine has a detergent tank where you can add the detergent. Unfortunately, however, most pressure washers do not have a detergent tank. Still, since they are becoming common in households, people are starting to embrace using power detergents in pressure washers.

If your pressure washer does not have a detergent tank, worry less- you can still find a wand attachment that will allow you to add detergent to the end of the high-pressure nozzle. The good thing is that it does not matter the type of pressure washer you have. Whether using a cold or hot water pressure washer, you can always add some detergent to your wash.

What Type Of Detergent Should You Use With A Pressure Washer?

The type of detergent you choose to use with your pressure washer depends on the pressure washer you are using and the type of cleaning you are looking for. It is worth noting that you should use pressure washer detergents certified with our equipment.

Pressure washer detergents are specifically made to work with pressure washers to get you the most efficient cleaning possible.

How To Use A Pressure Washer With Detergent

Now that you have an idea of the type of pressure washer detergent you should use, we can now get into details on how to use a pressure washer detergent.

Since this is a general guide on using your pressure washer with detergent, it is best to seek your manufacturer’s guidelines on how to use a specific pressure washer. But without further ado, let us get into the detergent tank’s first location.

Locate And Fill Your Detergent Tank With Detergent

As discussed earlier, most modern pressure washers come with a detergent tank that you can fill with the detergent of your choice. Therefore, if you invest in a high-quality, versatile pressure washer, you get the advantage o not lugging around a bucket of soap.

After locating your detergent tank:

  1. Fill it with the pressure washer detergent.
  2. Close the tank and then turn the nozzle on. The pressure nozzle will draw the soap into the pressure washer pump while you spray.
  3. Do not forget to switch the toggle as your detergent will sit there as you use the pressure washer.

How To Use Gas Powered Pressure Washer With Detergent

To use a detergent on a gas pressure washer, you must first prepare the unit for standard operation. However, before connecting the high-pressure hose, you need to insert the pressure washer detergent injector into the quick coupler mounted on the pump.

Connect the high-pressure hose to the water inlet on the pump and insert the clear pick-up hose into the detergent bottle. Make sure you leave the hose submerged during the whole pressure washing process.

After attaching the hose to the gun assembly, you can start cleaning using your detergent. When using a detergent to clean your house, it is best to start from the bottom and work your way up to avoid streaking.

When you are ready to rinse, you can remove the pressure washer detergent injector hose from the detergent bottle and replace the black detergent nozzle with a high-pressure nozzle.

Begin rinsing at the top of the building until all the detergent is removed. Do not allow any detergent o dry on the surface you are cleaning.

How To Use An Electric Pressure Washer With Detergent

To use a detergent on an electric-powered pressure washer, you must first prepare the unit for standard operation. When you use detergents, you must first attach the black, low-pressure nozzle to the gun and wand assembly.

Locate the clear detergent pick-up hose attached to the pressure washer pump. Submerge the end of this hose into the bottle detergent and leave it that way during the washing process.

Put On A High-Pressure Nozzle And Rinse

Rinsing a wall on high pressure

Swap the low-pressure nozzle with a high-pressure nozzle and rinse away the dirt. Using high powered-water pressure, you will clean the detergent and grim away from top to bottom. If you want extreme cleaning, you can use hot water pressure washers. Heat from hot water pressure washers further the cleaning power.

Depending on your cleaning location, you should consider the detergent run-off aspect. For example, you may need to spray the suds into a drainage area or dilute them.
